Check-In!
At this point, you’re probably thinking, Oh my god! She’s like my mom. You look horrible. What’s wrong? Get some sleep! Eat your vegetables! Are you drinking enough water?
Either that or your inner worrier has just been given a whole new list of things to freak out about. Your inner critic could also be having a field day. You’re doing it wrong! See, I told you that Hostess Ding Dong was a bad idea. Eat that, drink that, inhale that, and you’re gonna ruin your voice!
So let’s re-calibrate.
When it comes to living a healthy life there is no perfect. None of us eat healthy foods at every meal, exercise every day, drink the right amount of water, or wash our hands correctly every time. It’s impossible!
Perfect health doesn’t exist. Your environment isn’t always under your control. But there are things you can do that will help your body rise to the challenges of daily living on the planet, and the extraordinary pressures of a performing life.
When things go wrong with your voice, it helps to know what questions to ask about the cause, and have some remedies you can experiment with. If the remedies you try don’t succeed in making you feel better, you’ll know when it’s time to seek professional help, and who to go to.
But don’t worry — we’ll end this module on a high note. Because, as you probably have already experienced, singing is really good for you!
