Introduction To Module 6: Stage-Ready Success: From Microphones and Sound Systems to Show Planning

Transcription:

Congratulations—you're almost ready to step onto that stage! You've worked hard to reach this point, practicing your songs, developing your stage presence, and rehearsing. But to feel and sing your best at your show, there are a few more things you need to know about some key technical aspects of performance and show preparation.

In this module, the first lessons are all about Sound Equipment: microphones, sound systems, monitors, EQ, and effects for singers. You'll learn what each piece of gear is and how to set it up. We'll also cover sound check—a crucial process that helps you achieve the best possible sound during your performance. Plus, you'll learn about stage plots and performance riders.

Lastly, it's time to get your set list and charts in order. You'll learn how to write an effective set list that takes your audience on an emotional journey and sets your voice up for success, whether your show is 15 minutes or four hours long.

Technical details aren't always the most exciting or sexy part of being a performer, but I've learned through experience that understanding your gear and being prepared makes a huge difference in your performance experience.

So let's get you started.
